I'm so conflicted about the coming war I could burst.
I *don't* want to see Saddam with nuclear weapons, but the idea of starting a war makes me terribly uneasy (though not as uneasy, I suppose, as the average Iraqi-in-the-street).
It just seems to me that "good" nations don't resort to arms until their backs are right against the wall.
But yes, I understand that there's the distinct possibility that the wall could be vaporized before we ever touch it--and many of us along with it. I understand the basis of the Bush doctrine, and why it makes horrible sense in the age of suitcase nukes.
But there's also a nagging concern that we're going after Saddam mostly because we can't find bin Laden, and we just need to kick the crap outa *someone*. Cynical, I know, but still nagging.
I don't beleive the Bush admin is going to start a war for oil...I beleive their intentions are honestly stated.
However, I just can't seem to find the certainty I yearn for.
extremely conflicted (mostly blubbering)
