Understandable. My rambling response (for what its worth)

I guess I view the impending war as more of a message to other would-be Sadams than just an attack on Sadam...

Sadam does need to go, how that is accomplished is the only question. It's amazing that he has lasted as long as he has, and if the UN would have taken a stronger stand in the past, Sadam would already be gone: He wouldn't have survived the 1st Gulf War.

The man is unstable and very dangerous in the same way that Bin Ladin was (is?) unstable and dangerous. Bin Ladin's actions on 9/11 really drove home the point with me: We can try to ignore him and hope he goes away peacefully, but then who's to say that one day my child won't fall 100 stories to his death because Bin Ladin and/or Sadam doesn't want to be ignored...

Sadam like Bin Ladin, wants to be a thorn in our side. It how he maintains his overinflated ego.

Trying to ignore him will only make him bolder, angrier, and more desparate.

Will there be other Sadams and Bin Ladins? Yes, there probably will. But if the UN takes a stand against this one, then maybe in the future those other would-be Sadams will take notice when the UN says: "Stop, or else..."
