The Parrots are in full cry

Has anybody noticed that as the Iraq situation has developed, the major voices on the Left have decayed into the parrots that I dislike so much? Formerly intellectual discussions have been thrown aside and repetitive mantras, and bizarre concepts abound, seemingly largely based on a deep and virulent hatred of Bush for the unforgivable crime of winning the Presidency.

Maureen Dowd's column is typical. At this point, it is pretty much indistinguishable from columns written by other leftists, which are becoming indistinguishable from the kind of crap you seen on clown sites like Democrats.com.

Listen to Dowd's snide cut at the horrible things we might do to Iraq:

They can restore civilization to the cradle of civilization. Lemon fizzes, cribbage and cricket by the Tower of Babel. A 36-hole golf course on the banks of the Tigris and Euphrates. ArabDisney in the hanging gardens of Babylon. Oil on tap at the Baghdad Hilton. Huge contracts for buddies in the defense and oil industries. Halliburton's Brown & Root construction company building a six-lane highway from Baghdad to Tel Aviv.

With the typical contempt of the prosperous leftist who spits on the source of their prosperity, she doesn't see that the typical poverty-stricken Iraqi, faced with the prosperity symbolized by things like lemon fizzes by well-watered lawns, golf courses, Disneylands, and big hotels, would probably think they'd died and gone to heaven. For all the disgust and contempt the Left has for the trappings of Western commercialism, a new McDonalds is usually seen as a good thing by the average people of most nations.

And God grant I see the day when peace has settled on the Mideast to the point where a six-lane highway is needed, and built, from Baghdad to Tel Aviv.

The debate isn't as interesting any more. I find myself becoming repetitive as well, mostly because I have to point out the same flaws in arguments over and over and over again. I'm thinking of numbering them for ease of use. The really insightful opponents post far too rarely, which may be part of the problem.
