I do very well without a big hotel around. Or a McDonalds.
Disneyworld is for people whose kids watch cartoons in the morning. And move into an organized, everything done for them Little League. And finally in some desperate attempt to have some influence over their lives poke holes in their ears and lips and noses. (Tasteful holes, I'm sure. And yes, your earring, if you or your kids have one, is beautiful and DOES make a statement.)
There are other ways to enjoy affluence. It's really surprising anyone could regard those as cultural icons, to be desired and emulated.
If anything they are mirrors of a mind which is afraid of living with itself and the world around it. They are the "bright shiny things" stereotypically traded with the less well educated.
Seen Las Vegas lately? Seen the water and power it takes? That's a Disneyland for adults. Can a more obscene monument to American culture exist, except maybe Disneyworld?
