Books are vastly overrated!

I don't know that books are the blessing the so-called intellectuals claim. Books have been, at best, a mixed blessing.

If it weren't for books, I'd get more done during the day. If it weren't for books, I'd get more sleep at night.

Books create hate and dissension, lead our children down the path of dissolution. Books give 'em ideas, and you know that a kid with an idea is a dangerous thing. Hell, kids are dangerous enough without ideas. (Look at these boards!!)

For instance. Books have created a class of people who don't like slavery, despite the security that mode of living offered both the slaves and slave-holders. Uncle Tom's Cabin. And we know from recent times that security is more important than freedom. Books destroyed that very security for the people who needed it most.

Books have led fully half - (1/2) - of the population of the US to be unhappy with the time-honored, time-tested tradition of "barefoot and pregnant", and the other half - (1/2) - to be unhappy with their unhappiness. No one "won".

What good comes from something which leads to such misery? Aren't the Bible and Koran, for instance, books? 'Nuff sed?

Ya gotta be careful with books. They are not the blessing those bleeding, leaking, dribbling heart liberals will try to tell you they are. Why do you think they promote them - to increase the dividends of the publishing companies?

NO! To create dissatisfaction with The Established Order, that's why!

Arf (but they do look and feel good burning on a cold winters' night.)
