The Party of Big Money

Next time somebody grouses that the Republicans are the only Big Money party, you might want to show them this. The government employees unions, teachers unions, other unions, and trial lawyers being in the Democratic pocket should be a surprise to no one. The Phillip Morris lock on the Republicans is no surprise either, and depressing to say the least.

Both parties are raking it in big time. One assumes the donors expect big favors in return.

This site is extremely educational, and provides some nasty insights on both Democrats and Republicans, and on the whole American political process.

Some interesting odds and ends: "Emily's List" is #43 on the list, and is dedicated solely to pro-choice issues. Note that despite the image of corporations being solidly Republican, most of them distribute the goodies to both parties to cover their bets.

If there was any proof of the consequences of allowing a government to control the economic activities of a nation, i.e. a mixed economy, this is it. The buying and selling of legislators goes on apace, and no "campaign finance reform" is going to change this.
