<Like how a tax cut for wealthy people will pay for a war and phantom missile defense.
The number one object of the game is to get a growing economy, with investment, new businesses, and expansion of old businesses. Now you may be able to argue all day that cutting taxes and keeping more money in the hands of investors and businesses won't help this process, and more power to you, but I can't see any plausible argument that increasing taxes on investors, businesses, and entrepreneurs will help grow the economy. The 90's were prosperous and we had surpluses because, regardless of the shaky dot.com footing it was on, the economy itself was growing rapidly. In any case, a lot of stock trades and growth were pumping a lot of cash into the treasury.
My call is cutting taxes for everybody. I'm sorry if the math means the guy who pays a million in taxes gets a larger numerical cut than the guy who pays $500, but if the guy who pays $500 in taxes wants to have a job, I would not recommend soaking the rich. I would have no opposition to cutting payroll taxes as well.
BTW, name the last guy who got a full-time job from someone making $20,000 a year.
