One data point serves very well as an example of my point, which is all I was trying to do. I'll agree that it would be a poor Master's thesis.
Yes, in my mind when I posted that I was equating "carnage" with "war". I can see I wasn't being precise. There have been carnages other than war, such as the Crusades or some of the recent African slaughters, and carnages within war, such as the Holocaust.
None of which, in my mind, contradicts point.
