You made a broad statement that was patently false, by any method of counting.
You picked religion and oil because you can apply those to a political stereotype that keeps you in your anti-Western, anti-conservative comfort zone.
Wars and domestic atrocities in the name of raw power and secular ideology starts to take you out of that comfort zone, despite the fact that far more graves have been dug for victims of those things than the others.
Hell, oil wasn't even a factor in human society until the end of the 19th century, and the only place religion is in the picture nowadays as a military factor is Islamic jihad. Which doesn't exactly fit in your anti-Western comfort zone either.
