Every nation that has adopted communism or pure socialism as an organizing principle has failed. Every single one. No exceptions. Some desperate socialists will pull out Israeli kibbutzes as a working example, if really pressed.
And I'm not talking "failed," as in a high level of unemployment, low standard of living, potholes in the roads, or inability for the average person to get a car.
I'm talking failed as in the implementation of totalitarianism, police states, and societies so oppressive and evil that they had to set up death barriers around their nations to keep their citizens in. The economic principles of Marxism CANNOT be implemented without political totalitarianism. Hayek proved this back in the 40s, and some people knew it even earlier.
Over 80 million people have perished on the altar of this philosophy. Victims of deliberate actions of their own governments, and NOT COUNTING deaths in, or as a byproduct of, wars.
Communism/socialism is the equivalent of a doctor who has painfully killed EVERY LAST ONE of his patients, or an engineer who rebuilds cars that not only do not start, but explode violently, spraying the surrounding block with flying shrapnel.
At some point, advocates of Karl Marx need to get a clue. And more importantly, advocates of economic principles that are indistinguishable from those of Marx need to get a clue as well.
