Talking about the "Alpha Space Foundation", which I found on the way down the CCNet page toward the extinction article.
"Clouds B Gone"???? Awareness-raising displays in shopping mals and convenience stroes???? Casinos and other amusements to raise funds to build lifeboats and anti-impactor systems????
They must be kidding...
It has to be a spoof site, it just has to...
Or (ever suspicious of a scam) - it's a handful of oh-so-clever types who think they can generate, and then cash in on, impactor hysteria by donning a thin disguise of humanitarian concern - just enough to hoodwink some philanthropic outfit with more money than brains. Start up the first casino and find a way to skim it - "operating costs" would probably get the job done.
If it's not a spoof, I could only hope a couple hundred kilos of asteroid lands on their server at 17,000 mph.
Now I'll go read the extinction article....
