This is not news. Most reputable anthropologists are aware that homo sapiens pretty much killed off everything big enough to feed a family after they arrived on this continent. If the Europeans had arrived five hundred years later there probably wouldn't have been any buffalo left either. Environmentalism and PETA are luxuries reserved for those with full bellies.
