The problem with this board is it is all 'chummy' sometimes to the point of nausea ;-) There is little or no conflict. Sometimes too little conflict stifles debate and expansive thinking.

While it is nice to get away from, it would be nice to have an affiliated board Justin could manage where those whose posts are currently deleted, could post - an arena perhaps named "joust" or just that, "the Arena" (complete with a background graphic from Ben Hur;-) - not a place just for flamewars, but for inviting opposing views which can be moderated with a bit more hands-on than MSNBC does - and without the semi-xenophobic sterility of the habitable zone ;-)

geez, I would rather expand flames' purpose. I don't see the need, we have a board for space topics, everyone is welcome to come here as it is not questionable they are posting from the confines of a sanitarium.

if people get a little angry (e.g. Mark + EPG) we have a flame board, if folks start to go off topic, there is an O/T board they can go to. everything is covered, if things are too chummy herer for more folks to stop by I supose I could change a few things, maybe rename the "members" button to "album" button? maybe promote the site better, get more people?

I think I would like to find a balance between the two.

That way after engaging someone in the arena, one can find the refreshing quiet of the habitable zone.

Just an idea, I welcome discussion on the matter....of course I don't want to put too much strain on Justin, he has already done an impressive job with the boards so far.

Keep in mind I want to limit the boards I have because of time (mine and everyone elses). without more board members I see little need to start more boards. The people who still post at MSNBC are welcome to come over, and if they don't now then I don't think they will if I start a different board.

and theres one more other that the O/T board, CE, and flame there is the all inclusive board. It is under the title "looney bin" and it is pretty bad currently. It doesn't seem to be the worse its ever been though, that was around the time this bbs was started. The all inclusiveness of hte MSNBC BBS caused it to go to pot. IT has hovered around the same stat e of low quality for a long time, I could only a ssume a similar one would deteriorate just as fast.
