Nuclear reactions are quite distant from what I've been working on most recently, so you'll have to excuse me if it took a little while to recall this morning what little I could about the types of radiation...

Mark, it's now up to you to dig out the numbers for all the different types of radiation generated by our sun and their levels on Mars - in my piece on the Viking session, I merely reported what the symposium participants said - Since the two that spoke to the issue were both trained scientists who work professionally with Mars data, my assumption was that they knew what they were talking about -

you may find this surprising, but I do have an open mind -
