Jody, this is really really sad. You just can't wrap your brain around the FACT that modestly higher taxes could be a trade off for your $1000/month premiums.
This isn't some theoretical concept. Single payer health care systems exist in every major nation in the world. THAT'S HOW THEY WORK. People pay taxes instead of health care premiums. It's the reality on the ground.
A fucking child could understand this.
There will always be supplemental insurance for people who want and can afford it, but the vast majority of people in other nations do not need it.
We even have a single payer system here. It's called Medicare. We pay taxes so that older people can be covered.
And I guarantee both you and TB will use it and be happy with it when you turn 65.
