I spent a long time learning to program in Visual C++ for windows environments... I learned just how much overhead windows takes up! I was trying to write a windows based version of a DOS program that was ~100kb... it came to ~4MB before I gave up and decided to stick with DOS...

For what I needed to do it just wasn't worth the hassle...
