Hi Marcia, you make my point on changing orbits very well. As explained by Paul Maley, the particles of ice in space can exist for a very long time, they become a problem as they just hover around in the same orbit as the shuttle. They are given a forcefull shot towards the earth into a lower orbit, as they do so they must exhibit a curve as they have to travel a shorter distance around the planet, if they were ejected above the orbiter, the distance around the circumference of the planet is larger so they again curve, this time appearing to fall behind the orbiter. In any case again, they must appear curved due to orbital mathematics.
We should see a similar curve in the tail of a comet if it is ejecting matter into a higher orbit, especially if that higher orbit is millions of miles higher.
Thank you for your post, This proves ice crystals can exist in space, they are not blown away by any solar wind, at least in LEO, and they must exhibit a curve if they are ejected away from, or towards the earth.
Thank you thank you thank you.
