It's too bad you can't argue the point instead of exercising your mouth.

If you understood so well you would know that a sun pillar has no bearing on the conversation. I am talking about a light pillar. Very different phenomenon, very different processes.

Sun pillars are caused by reflection off the bottom of a moisture droplet, or occasionally ice crystal cylinder. Sun pillars are not ever caused by refraction, or edge refraction.

Light pilars are caused by standard refraction, or edge refraction. Sun dogs, are also caused by base line refraction.

It is the light pillar effect which causes an effect in the atmosphere when flat, six sided crystals form thru sublimation. Ice crystals formed through evaporation, or condensation are not shaped correctly, and do not exhibit the phenomenon. I suggested, and will continue to suggest that some form of crystaline formation occuring in the diffuse matter released by the comets sublimation processes, may, emphasis on the may be a better explanation of the Ion tail in a comet. The Ion pickup process as explained by current theory results in nearly instantaneous acceleration of matter to very high relative velocities, and does so without significant slowing of the solar winds said to be responsible. Further the Ion tail, when it is evident appears to violate Newtons third in that while the straight line acceleration is accounted for, the orbital velocity of the underlying pre-, Post-, and plasmatic matter has no mechanism to bring its orbital velocity up to hundreds of percentage points above the orbital velocity of the comet and coma from which it originated. If the end of the Ion tail follows a somewhat parallel orbit around the perihelium with the comet, but up to 150,000,000 kilometer further out, it has to travel a much more distant path than the comet and its coma did. No electro magnetic, gravitaional, or kenetic energy sources have been identified to acclerate the atomic and molecular material as described.

Similarly the dust tail, which could be drug behid the comet because solar winds have blown it(the dust) into a higher orbit, continue to fall behind the comet even on exit of perihelium, even though solar winds are now shifting into vectors from the rear, instead of the side.

Newtons third, appears to be violated again by the dust tail.
