You put it much better than I would have. Lindbergh decided not to take a parachute, and back then, there was nobody with the authority to make him. Probably not true today.

To a leftist, the word "choice" is used usually only in the context of abortions. For everything else, the closest phrase would be "that which is not forbidden is compulsory."
