Space/Science » in reply to Reality Check: Lesson of ISS and Costs of a Manned Mars Mission

Despairing of humans in space.

With 1600% over runs, that puts on Mars at a quick $300BillionUS.
But how much of that was due to Congressional attempts to destroy the program throughout its developmental phases?
IOW, if the start had been properly funded, would the outcome had been any better?
Is there something fundamentally wrong with the desire so many of us here have?
Is there a technical limitation or a sociological limitaion that simply makes the serious space flight we have dramed of simply beyond our reach?
