The dust devil picture confirms something I was thinking about 2 weeks ago while looking at a trail on a hillside. They explain all those mysterious dark streaks we see on slopes. Most of those streaks look like material flowing downhill, but some of them see to defy gravity as far as material flowing down hill.

Probably the temperature (Pressure) change between the top of the slop and the bottom of the slop causes these vortexes.
