I'm not really big on the idea of a global cover-up, but I do think that maybe a deeper look into some things wouldn't hurt. Common sense would seem to dictate the the Sun revolves around the Earth, just look at how it moves across the sky. At first glance this seems to be true, but when looked at just a little bit deeper, it's easy to see how a rotating Earth would cause the same effect. Ideas of interference or distortion are used because it seems like common sense, and most just don't want to think of something that could mess up their tidy little world. So while those easy answers could very well be the cause of that picture, I think it's up to science to try and find out for sure. After all, getting to the truth is the true purpose of science.
What would it hurt to run that picture through a digital enhancer? Like the face on Mars, such a test would probably lay to rest another legend....but you never know.

The conspiracy theory wasn't my idea.
