As one military parent to another
I wish your son well. My oldest son served in the Army. A few months after boot camp, he paid a visit to Panama as part of Operation Just Cause. My wife and I lost quite a bit of sleep over that one. He got out of the Army in 1992. My youngest son has been in the Navy for the last 8 years. He's currently a surgical tech instructor which sounds like a safe job. However, he's also attached to the USS Mercy hospital ship and has been trained to work as a field medic with the Marines. I hope it doesn't come to that, but if it does, he'll go with my full love and support.
