Retaliation....

Hi Dan,

Nice letter. I wouldn't worry about getting shot. While wishing for a high body count may seem unduly harsh - there are many who know how these things balance out. A good portion of the US, and many of the folks in DC are marching lock-step with such an approach.

However, my wish is, if a high body count comes - and this is VERY likely - it is composed entirely of those who are not innocents but perpetrators of terror, mongerers of hate and executors of women and children.

That is what distinguishes the US from the rest of the world. We seek justice before vengeance.

When one is the most powerful kid on the block - the responsibility to use one's strength wisely is even more present.

If multiple nations are responsible - the odds are we will see a multi-nation coalition attack take place upon these nations.

It will not be pretty.

I will not rejoice when I see the pictures of the dead or the screaming mothers and fatherless children.

However, I will understand that in a primitive world where animals are still at large and endangering the rest of humanity - animal control is implemented as necessary.

Will they learn their errors?

No.

Will democracy and freedom be safer?

A little bit.

But every little bit matters.

Take care Dan - and wish your son good luck, from me, in his training. Army boot camp can be a form of Hades ;-)

Best wishes,
