In this large world made so much smaller by the Internet and email, I know that you may never have a chance to actually meet Dan.

As you can tell, he's eloquent with the written word. What you may not know is that he is also eloquent in his spoken words. Dan claims to be a foul-mouthed individual...I disagree. He's as calm and gentle as they come. We haven't always agreed on every issue but I have learned over the years to listen and to respect his opinion.

Dan's son, Ray, has many of these same qualities. He too is calm, introspective, and wonderful to talk to. I worries me that this gentle giant may be exposed to the ravages of war. I hope that he is really prepared for what's in store.

I know Dan. Pretty well. He is my brother, and Ray is my nephew. I can't tell you how proud I am of him. His courage to stand up and speak always blows me away.
