They were perhaps 2-3 years old and lying in a wheelbarrow. They appeared to be starving. Those children are not our enemy, nor are most of the other refugees. However, if we do nothing to ease their suffering, we end up appearing to be the _cause_ of their suffering. That being the case, those children aren't our enemies today but they will likely grow up to be our enemies in the future (assuming they survive their current situation). It won't be easy to win the hearts and minds of the Afghani people in particular and the Moslem world in general, but I believe we have the moral imperative to try. Simply providing food, shelter, and medical care isn't enough, but it is a start.
