Re: Flags are flying sans jingoism

I've wanted to put up a flag, but feel that it indicates "nationalism", one that will bring us war and more hatred and eventually be the one that destabilizes the whole world. Maybe I'll wait until yellow ribbons are in fashion, to show my support of sending our boys home (with probably something worse than the Gulf War Syndrome). I'll tie it to the big oak out front and weep unholy tears.....

Like a cancer, "terroism" is going to be hard to excise, without killing off it's host.

Like our cancer research, which has been YEARS in development, we do not yet know how to destroy the cancer effectively without killing surounding areas, weakening the individual, or having the cancer return and eventually kill off the host.

>"That definitely does NOT equate support for any disastrous war waged for politics in the name of justice."

I don't think our leaders want "justice", but war...a HOLY war as well.....it's in their belief systems.
Only their right is right (and it is VERY "right" if you know what I mean), because their God is fighting the very essence of THEIR God.

Would it be that we could just kill off the Taliban and leave everybody happy. But there are those on this planet who see no reason for living, and will help to bring about it's end.
And after the Taliban, who next?
Revenge is NOT sweet.

>"I hope they have the good sense and the decency to avoid spending American lives and the lives of foreigners in a war that will increase misery, pain, bloodshed and insecurity in the name of a 21st century crusade. Medieval 'thinking' has replaced thinking, in this citizen's opinion."

The knee jerk re-action makes it look that way. Calling up the reserves makes it look inevitable.
However, without good reason, co-operation from Congress and the people, if they institute the draft for this Holy War, there will be plenty of bloodshed in our streets at home.
It will be the beginning of the end for America and her families, and any kind of "peace" we were living with.
Everyone wants the Taliban eliminated, but they DON"T want an all-out war in the Middle East which can escalate to a World War. We are not that dumb, and we know how itchy everybody's trigger finger are.

>"In a republic, mob rule is watered down and minorities are supposed to have a voice. That's a good thing, or so the founders of America believed. "

Well, history has proven that people with a voice don't count much in a "war", instead they are seen as the enemy.
Decades later the warriors reflect and often recant, saying it was the wrong decision, and they often may feel SOME remorse, while the shadows of thousands upon thousands of dead souls haunt them.
Let's hope this time history doesn't repeat itself.

Just say "no"?
