jingoism

When I ride through my neighborhood and see flags displayed by those that have them or want to fly them I don't sense jingoism and I don't wonder why the houses without a flag don't have one out.

When I go to a school program, as I did tonight, and I see boy scouts presenting the colors and most people with their hand on heart singing the anthym, I don't sense jingoism and I don't wonder to myself why a few people aren't singing along.

When I go to the supermarket and see the front window emblazoned with God Bless America I don't sense jingoism and I don't stop shopping at the stores that don't go that far.

When I see an individual that write an essay such as this and uses her child as an example of jingoism run rampant. I sense something and I don't like the smell.
