I don't know what my sense of humor has to do with it. I don't think she was making a joke.

She had a daughter, not a son. Maybe you should read her article more closely. A really close reading hints at a number of personal issues she is apparently carrying around that really don't have much to do with politics.

Do you honestly think I judge writers on one article? You may not know this, but if I am unfamiliar with a writer I typically go into the net and read a large number of things by these people. This gives them the benefit of the doubt--maybe they're not completely full of shit, maybe they just had a one-time brain fart.

Pollitt is one of a group of people who, as I have written before, have been dumping on America for years and have been caught off guard by the current wave of patriotism. She has been throwing more crap at conservatives than a crazed monkey who's gotten into the prunes again.

Anyway, Camille Paglia thinks she sucks, and that should be good enough for anybody. ;)
