Current Event or Currently Venting....

Ok, I won't use words (do I ever?) that really deserve the flame board (as I've seen too many) but, it really looks like there is a serious dose of intolerance towards anything that's not strictly in favor of total follow-the-leader-patriotism, as if civilians were forced to follow the commander (just like at the army) without thinking twice.
Here's an article I'm translating from french that's the editorial note of a TV weekly magazine (Télémoustique):

White and Black
Here we are in this famous war logic.
What happened in the US caused an unprecedented emotional wave and a totally legitimate one.
However, Europe is trying to let its opinion heard in the making of the retaliations. We are in the Western side, it's obvious. In the past, we have been able to rely on the allie's solidarity to come to help us, nobody questions this. But do we need to blindly support the cynicism dose that has for so long followed the US foreign policies? The dead that "matter" and those that don't "matter", relative to the economical impact they represent? The fundamentalist groups that have yesterday been armed and turn against us today. Retaliation with variable geometry, one day in the name of endangered democracy, the next in order to insure safe oil supplying. Americans, still under shock after what they've been through, still refuse to hear about the boomerang effect. That's precisely what's going on today.
Europe knows its allies but has always felt ill at ease with the (manichean) black and white schemes of the fight of the good against the evil. To argue about this e nuance does not mean a lack of straightforwardness or lack of courage. It only underlines an evidence: nothing is completely white or completely black, on this often too greyish world.
