In a free society and in the "battlefield of ideas", differences of opinion should be celebrated. Instead, in today's Politically Correct world, anytime someone disagrees with someone else's view, it's called "intolerance." Frankly, that sounds to me like whinning by someone who can't defend his views.

It takes pressure to make a diamond. That holds true regardless of whether you're talking about a relationship, a soldier in training, or an idea. Debate can be a tool to sharped ideas. Differing views can be used to expose the idea's flaws so the notion can be refined. Instead, we're supposed to be "tolerant" of weak ideas instead of challenging their flaws. All that does is keep the ideas weak. It's like coddling a trainee in basic training - sure, he may graduate and get to call himself a soldier but put him on a battlefield and his weakness will probably get him and others killed.
