The way armies there change sides frequently, I think part of the Allied strategy is first off to let Taliban field commanders think long and hard about the consequences of NOT defecting with their battalions. If we started out right away killing troops, resentments might make that more difficult. Assuming they don't defect, I am sure that they WILL be targeted. Bush has emphasized the need for patience. I'll bet that the Taliban field commanders have been leafleted with just that story. You move your troops, they're obliterated. We own the skies. Come on over to the good guys.
