I've found Aviation Week a good source for the straight stuff on aviation and space news. Most mainstream reporters are flaming chowderheads. Anyone who has experienced any news event personally, then seen the media take on it later, knows exactly how often the facts get screwed up. What is irritating is not that they don't know all the information right out of their heads--few people do--but that they won't take the small effort required to check it out and do a little research. The fact that no attack helicopter that I have ever seen (although I'm no expert) has dual main gear should have been a top piece of information in all the media coverage of this feeble propoganda attempt.
In all the old movies, if not in real life, good reporters were as much detectives as they were journalists. Nowadays, they primarily operate on perceptions, and apply very little analytical thinking. Most of them simply regurgitate other people's press releases.
