When Americans, British and Canadian
troops liberated French, Belgian and
Dutch cities from the Nazis in World War Two, those liberated Europeans, who were glad to be rid of the Germans, turned
in vengeance against those fellow-citizens who collaborated with the Nazis.
And they didn't all wait for formal
legal proceedings before rounding up and shooting those known collaborators.
Those European women who had German boyfriends got off lightly: they had their "heads shaved".
I haven't even mentioned how British,
Canadian and American soldiers did not
always "take prisoners" when Nazi soldiers, particularily the SS, surrendered to them.
While unfortunate, and yes, morally wrong, those 57-year-old acts of vendetta are understandable in the light of history, considering what
years of cruel deprevation, fear
and oppression they suffered at the hands of the Nazi tyranny.
Is the Hague War-Crimes Court
going to try 75-year-old French or Belgian Maquis members because of those extreme acts of retribution
all those decades ago?
No!...
Oh!! About the liberal handwringing or fingerwagging over Afghanistan?
Those liberal fingerwaggers are hypocrites and cowards. They would be
the first to cower in fear if a Taliban like tyranny ruled their lives;
and the first to rejoice in deliverance from the same.
