Down syndrome

The highest jurisdiction in France has just been favorable towards 2 families with children suffering from the down syndrome: the doctors who let them being born and did not inform the parents about their children's handicap are condemned to compensate the families for the prejudice of not having let the mother perform an abortion.
It's here but still in french.
This means it is a right not to be born. One of the families' lawyers said: the doctor was at fault and this fault was what caused the prejudice that the child underwent. The other partie's lawyer said: it's not the doctor's act that is the prejudice, because it occured before any medical act.
This could force parents to pay for numerous and expensive scans during pregnancies. Far more than the law currently allows. Well, this story is not over.
