Re: Where's the antacid?

We're not talking about mothers who are aborting because their baby has schizophrenia, or Downs Syndrome*, or another serious defect. We're not even talking about rape cases.

We're discussing mothers who have abortions because they just don't feel like raising a kid. Hell, they could put them up for adoption. We're talking about mothers who just don't feel like the hard work of carrying a baby to term. A vast majority of abortions are simply a method of birth control, with only a tiny percentage being for health reasons, or due to rape.

We're talking about inconvenience being a sufficient reason to destroy a life, whether that is a baby, or maybe someday an elderly parent.

At what point does responsibility enter into this argument? Nobody just walks down the street and gets whapped on the head by the Preggers Fairy. There is a certain amount of free will in this.

If this Australian woman was really hard over on this, what she should have done was put both kids up for adoption (putting one kid only up for adoption would have been too cruel for the children.)

My position on the legality of abortion is the same as my libertarian position on the legality of drugs, or cigarettes. But just because it's legal, doesn't make it right, or a good idea.

* I've seen a lot of happy Downs Syndrome kids that I'm glad weren't killed. My niece for one.
