Re: But Who are the Bad Guys?

Not once did the article blame the media for September 11. That wasn't the point.

Need I mention that nobody accurately predicted the course of events so far in this conflict - not the brass, not the media, neither you nor I?

In fact, so far as I know, no one has ever been able to peer into the future and make an accurate, detailed prediction about ANYTHING.

But it is the media's job to try. That's what the public wants and that's what we pay them to do.

This thesis--"predictions can be wrong"--would maybe be relevant to this argument had any single one of those leftist bastards in the media predicted something other than total disaster for the United States. Did any one of them take a look back at the Gulf War, think a minute, and then say, "Hey! Maybe we're going to kick their butts and haul bin Laden back in chains!"

Just one?

Sorry, but the mainstream media has a definite left-wing agenda. Some of it is anti-American, and most of it is certainly anti-Republican. There is no "conspiracy" or organized effort of any kind in this. It is simply the worldview they were trained to, and news people don't notice it any more that a fish notices it's wet. If you hooked Dan Rather up to a lie detector and asked him if he had a leftist bias, he would say "No, of course not." And the needle wouldn't even flicker. That doesn't mean the bias isn't real.

Those who believe in individual rights, free markets, and American values need to realize that the major sources of news for most people are lined up on the other side, and this is the handicap we have to work with.

Read this. I highly recommend it. If you can't bring yourself to buy it, get it from a library.
