Re: A perspective on one of the casualties

<"But of course human beings don't get along. That's very disappointing,'' Lewis commented in the Times. Yes, it is, but thousands of years of human history have proved that.

But didn't the Soviets and the Allies get along to defeat the Germans?
Didn't the Russians and the allies offer their help to defeat Al Qaeda?
Didn't even the Chinese communist offer their help?
And Disraeli had said nations have no permanent friends, just permanent interests, true, but he was a British minister. The continental Europe is binding its fate with a single currency in just 5 days. Did we have to do it? Well, the UK didn't think so but we all bet they'll join us sooner or later, because it's their own interest, but for now, they don't think so. Sometimes, interest alone doesn't explain what happens.
I'm often surprised by the swiftness with which previous adversaries can become friends. This does show we CAN GET ALONG and we do! There might be someone somewhere who doesn't think so, but even if he hurts very badly, he is isolated and can't last long.
Democracy is the best way for populations to get along. Israeli and Arabs will have to get along and they will. It's up to them to realize this now and not after thousands upon thousands of new casualties.
