Oh, we're going to get scientific now?

Then maybe you might want to be looking at more than one data point, i.e. the press going after Clinton.

Maybe we should set up a chart containing press feeding frenzies on politicians over the past several decades, and compare the ink dedicated to destroying conservative and Republican politicians to the ink spent in going after liberals and Democrats. Politicians like Nixon, Reagan, Bush, Thomas, Gingrich, Packwood, etc. Scandals like Watergate, Iraq-gate, Iran-contra, October Surprise--most of which came to nothing, and some of which were totally invented. To claim that Clinton was the only media circus in recent years is ludicrous.

Ken Starr spent $40 million to produce a 400 page report which mentioned Whitewater exactly twice.

Like I've told others, save these old saws for the rubes. Ken Starr got 13 convictions from his investigations. Naturally, since Clinton was the only one liberals were worried about, the convictions of others often don't register on them. By comparison, Walsh spent about $50 million on Iran-Contra, and got how many convictions? I notice Walsh didn't land the Big Fish he was looking for either. I also notice Reagan wasn't impeached.

As for letting Republicans get away with things, there must be SOME reason every third word in my newpaper is about sticking the Enron scandal on Bush.

Clinton was a sleaze. He wasn't the first one in the White House, and he won't be the last. Bush ain't perfect, but he sure isn't a sleaze. The only reason I don't harp more on Clinton on this board is that he is now, despite his most desperate efforts, largely irrelevant.
