"Being a student of science or speculative fiction, I think this artical was written more as a "warning" of signs to watch for than a good faith prediction of events to come."
Your analysis is probably correct. But it is a "warning" that seriously merits consideration by everyone that fears the potential of the leviathon called government. Some of the implications of the post are indeed frightening. Tom Jefferson warned, "the price of liberty is eternal vigilance" and this "warning" is something more than a persceptive based on party affiliation.
>"Just a new flavor of political afficinados traumatized by recent political events. Elections that is. Clinton was elected with less than 50% of the vote and the die-hard repubs I was around at the time were talking about the end of American deomcracy."
On Clinton's first election he had a plurality, at least he didn't lose the popular vote.
Wake up folks, just cause your horse looses doesn't mean it's the end of civil society in the U.
This country is indeed resiliant--we have survived and will survive as long as we have an open sociey and make sure the truth is publilshed and heard.
In the words of George Orwell, "In a time of universal deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."
