Oh, by the way, Frank, my comment
in the follow-up post was in on ways directed at you.
It happened to be a stranger, approaching my PC, who rudely interrupted me as I was making my original post on this subject.
As far as non-nuclear E-BOMBS are concerned, POPULAR MECHANICS [Sept/2001]
irresponsibly showed how it can be made,
with supporting glossy diagrams provided in that mag, along with descriptions:
electronic circuits in PC's can be fried
by a non-nuclear E-BOMB more than 1000 feet away.
It's not OBL who concerns me, it's
Saddam Insane.
And it's not non-nuclear E-BOMBS
that concern me so much, it's non-nuclear E-WARHEADS on Iraqi SAM missiles that trouble and concern me most.
[Please, somebody here allay my concerns with facts! Because I really really hope I'm wrong on this one.]
Here's a scenario that troubles and alarms me:
George "Dubya" wants to attack
Iraq, soon. That's hardly a secret.
And that's not the alarming part.
(1)Suppose Saddam's scientists have secretly built hundreds or thousands of "non-nuclear" E-WARHEADS for his SAM missiles and "air-to-air" missiles?
[That's the alarming part!]
(2) Then suppose George Dubya sends in USAF, USN and USMC "fly by wire" jets by the dozen against Iraq. But first he sends in cruise missiles.
(3) Suppose then that Saddam's military have OP's and LP's all across Iraq tracking those cruise missiles, sending in reports by fiber-optic phones, as those missiles approach their high-priority targets in Iraq? Then suppose Iraqi soldiers detonate E-BOMBs nearby to throw the cruise-missiles off course?...Many Iraqi civilian casualties; propaganda coup for Saddam,
(4) Then suppose that as USAF, USN, and USMC jets near their Iraqi targets, tracked as much has possible by Iraqi early-warning personnel in those OP's
and LP's using night-vision starlight scopes as much as possible, SCORES of those Iraqi SAMs with nonnuclear E-WARHEADS are sent up?...Upon detonating, those SAMs with E-WARHEADS send out electromagnetic-pulses that fry, or momentarily short-out the
"fly-by-wire" electronics in nearby F-117's, F-16's, F-18's and possibly some other jets.
This could mean the Pentagon may loose more than 10 military jets in the first-strike. And could mean that Iraqi
soldiers may capture a handful of US military pilots that first night as well.
It would be a morale boost for Saddam and his military, and a propaganda windfall for him too.
I HOPE I'M WRONG!
Also, a loss of over 10 military jets, and a failure of cruise missiles to hit their targets that night would mean that the Pentagon would not achieve
immediate air-superiority over Iraq,
and the Iraqi army may immediately take advantage of such a situation to promptly roll into Saudi, Jordanian and Kuwaiti territory, with all they got, with the intention of reaching the Saudi and Kuwaiti oilfields and ports, and also the Israeli frontier as well [Saddam would not attempt to approach the Israeli frontier if he did not have bio, nuke or chem-warfare tipped SCUDS ready to hit Tel Aviv, or at least to bluff with].
I HOPE I'M WRONG WITH ALL THE SCENARIOS I'VE POSTED, HERE!...AN ADVANTAGE OF BEING A NON-EXPERT, OR AN ARMCHAIR ONE.
I would be very glad for some of you
to put me straight on these issues, and
ease my mind at the same time.
Thanks!
Jacob
