Re: Sorry, but...

Hi Tom,

Read "The Nuclear Barons" by Peter Pringle et al. First printing was 1981.

Get the paperback reprint from 1983 (after the 1982 Nuclear act was passed by Congress) which has more useful reaction to present laws.

This book gives some rather horrifying tales dug up from under the rafters, including the transport tests and the confounding enigma of the external radiation smothering the transport vehicles.

Yet, I still am a proponent of nuclear power - regardless. The key is awareness and safety. No laxity of any sort can be tolerated when dealing with this issue.

This book doesn't explain the enigma - just describes it. The cumulative field explanation is all mine.

It's an eye-opening book, and not a whit has changed since it was published twenty years ago - except for even more stockpiled control rods in the containment bays of our nuclear reactors.

If you can read this book and still be a nuclear proponent - it is because one knows that solutions can be found and one wants a sustaining power source independent of burning fossil fuels from the middle east.
