I completely agree that a massive non-violence movement would be more effective than these suicide bombers. However, non-violence just doesn't seem to be in their playbook. Right now, these suicide attacks have proven to be very successful at killing Israelis. Not only that but it's very demoralizing to those on the receiving end because it's damned difficult to stop someone bent on suicide who wants to take others with him (or her).
If the Israelis somehow figure out a counter that makes suicide bombers ineffective, the Palestineans would switch tactics. Notice how you don't hear of too many attemts to hijack or blow up an Israeli plane anymore. The security around El Al is so good that few attempts are made against it anymore. Car bombs aren't as effective a tactic as it used to be, either.
How can you stop someone bent on suicide when they're carrying explosives? Even setting up screening checkpoints with bomb-sniffing dogs wouldn't be effective because people would be concentrated at the checkpoints, making that a good place to detonate the bomb. You might be able to stop them from getting inside of crowded buildings where the bomb would kill even more people but you couldn't stop them completely from killing others.
