A UN deployment would stop Hamas
The Sharon line seems to be that Arafat controls Hamas, but I don't think that this is true. In any case, it's irrelevant.
While Sharon's current campaign has intercepted about 8 sets of suicide bomb gear, these are now homemade and require no imports. Further, at the same time Sharon's campaign has also undoubtedly increased the supply of potential suicide bombers.
My guess is that there is only one thing that may, and let me emphasize "may", keep the Israelis and Palestinians from going at each other, and that is a UN deployment.
