Only one standard. No standards, no civilized standards anyway, for the Israelis.

You want to say the Palestinians are "soldiers"? Then why do you resent their having weapons, even small weapons, homemade weapons? I wonder if the Israeli tanks are chewing their way through the rock quarries? They'd be making more ammo for the Palestinians. I'll bet there are no medals for that. Maybe there are.

Now, it seems to me the Israelis have weapon factories, tanks, helicopters, rockets, and so on. The Palestinians have homemade bombs, and suicide bombers.

There are people who think that's unfair.

Seriously. There are people who think the Palestinians are unfair. With their homemade bombs. And suicide bombers. Against tanks. Helicopters. An army. Once the best army, man-for-man in the whole, wide world. An Israeli soldier was something - almost a superman.

And there are folks who glory in the thought of these onetime supermen and their tanks rampaging through civilians. Because the civilians have homemade bombs. And suicide bombers. Those civilians are soldiers, after all, because they have homemade bombs. And suicide bombers. They deserve whatever happens to them!! They're asking for it!!

Brave folk who can see the glory in that.

Hard to believe, isn't it. And if it's not hard to believe, why isn't it? What does it say about the person who wouldn't find that hard to believe?
