OK, talk to me about fairness.

Tom,

I was born in a part of America where people didn't steal from their neighbors. Didn't build their toolsheds on their neighbors property, didn't park their cars on their neighbors property without permission.

Even now, property rights are a part of the capitalistic ethic, I believe. Even libertarians are fierce about property rights, as I understand it.

Now, fairness. It was only fair to respect what belonged to other people. It was only fair to recognize the property rights of others.

One could tell what was their property through deeds, instruments which conveyed those property rights.

So far, so good?

Now, suppose someone took property which wasn't theirs. Built a toolshed, spare bedroom, and denied the rightful owner access to their own property.
Let's say these people who had their property taken appealed to the authorities.

The authorities asked the bad guys to stop taking property. The bad guys didn't stop taking property, took more.

So, the people who were having their property stolen protested every way they could. Threw rocks, and got shot.

The people who were having their property stolen escalated, maybe the way you would if there were a burglar in your house.

And the bad guys started machine gunning 'em.

Talk to me about fairness.
