Good questions. It's worth noting that for many centuries in Europe, all of those edicts, or similar ones, on the Jews were a reality. Of course, they are not treated that badly nowadays.

On the other hand, are Jews in modern France routinely blowing up French cafes, stores, and cathedrals? Have they stood up and advocated killing all the French Christians and taking over France as the new Jewish homeland? Have they used hundreds, if not thousands of years of real oppression by Europeans, including the actual deliberate annihilation of millions of their numbers, to justify this militant and murderous attitude to softheaded liberals around the world?

If any of this were happening, maybe Jews would be carrying ID cards in France.
