OK. The statement that Islamic terrorists want to kill all Westerners and Russians is very close to religious bigotry in the aggregate. It’s inflammatory, and patently inaccurate. There really shouldn’t have to be any refutation or explanation.
However, let’s look at the examples you cited, which are a bomb near Chechnya, a blast in Germany, and a bomb in Pakistan which predominately killed French.
A very little bit of background is necessary to understand that the issue in Chechnya is a war of independence. It is the attempted secession of a Muslim “province” from non-Muslim Russia. The entire issue certainly involves Muslims against Russia, certainly involves “terrorism”, does not have a wider scope. To use it to try to say Islamic terrorists are trying to kill all Westerners and Russians is religious bigotry and inaccurate.
The German blast is up in the air. The authorities there, the ones on the scene, say it was an accident. A local Jewish leader thinks it was an accident. The only people saying it’s a Palestinian plot is the Israeli foreign ministry. They are in Israel.
“The Tunisian authorities say that a truck carrying cooking gas accidentally exploded when it crashed into a wall, but others, including the Israeli Government have expressed doubts. They claim it was a suicide attack and is linked to events in the Middle East.
"I think it's an accident, and that it has no link to the situation in Israel," said the head of the local Jewish community, Peres Taraboulsi. “
To try to use an incident which the people on the scene describe as an accident is, in my opinion, at best irresponsible.
The Pakistani bomb blasts as far as the articles are concerned are still not conclusively attributed. However, the article cited says:
“But police said they would investigate possible links between the bombers and the al-Qaeda network as well as Pakistan's regional rival, India.
"We cannot rule out the involvement of al-Qaeda, but our suspicions are across the border. I am pointing towards India," the Reuters news agency quoted Sindh province police chief, Kamal Shah, as saying.”
The bus involved belonged to the Pakistani navy, and there’s no indication the bombing was aimed at the French. It seems more likely it was aimed at the Pakistani military.
And, the local people are more suspicious the attack originated from India in response to attacks from Pakistan.
Reading the articles cited would have revealed most of this. And it’s common knowledge the Chechynian situation is a civil war, has been going on for a long time, and is not part of a plot against “all Westerners and Russians”.
Debate is tolerable, even fun. There can be differing views on about anything. To say that Islamic terrorists want to kill all Westerners and Russians, especially based on the cited information, is irresponsible, bigoted, and not “debate”. I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that if you want to be taken seriously you will read your own citations. I don’t think “ignorant” is too strong a word.
