Well, I'm not sure how you know that, but you seem pretty certain.
My limited experience has been that a person who is killing themself is feeling hopeless, sensing their situation as desperate, and don't make that decision lightly.
When you've been a victim of ethnic cleansing for years, treated like "roaches" by an occupying power with tanks, artillery, helicopters,
"We declare openly that the Arabs have no right to settle on even one centimeter of Eretz Israel.... Force is all they do or ever will understand. We shall use the ultimate force until the Palestinians come crawling to us on all fours ... When we have settled the land, all the Arabs will be able to do will be to scurry around like drugged roaches in a bottle." -- Israeli Chief of Staff Rafael Eitan (Gad Becker, Yediot Ahronot 4/13/83, NYTimes 4/14/83)
or like dogs,
"... we have no solution, that you shall continue to live like dogs, and whoever wants to can leave -- and we will see where this process leads? In five years we may have 200,000 less people -- and that is a matter of enorous importance." -- Moshe Dayan encouraging the transfer of Gaza strip refugees to Jordan"
people start to feel hopeless. And their neighbors notice that American weapons, American money, American votes in the UN Security Council are the agents of this ethnic cleansing, without which it couldn't happen.
