Apparently we have captured an Al Quaeda operative born in the U.S.A. who was apparently in early stages of a plan to detonate a "dirty bomb" in Washington D.C.
Some interesting points:
- Real name is Jose Padilla, which while not exactly Irish, shows an attempt by Al Quaeda to move operatives off the profiling targets.
- If he was arrested May 8, why are we just busting this story open now?
"Dirty bombs" are conventional explosives surrounded by dangerous radioactive material. Much easier to build, since the high-tech and advanced materials required for a true nuclear weapon are not required. Very effective too from a terror standpoint, since even if the radioactive material is not all that dangerous, the environmentalists have brainwashed most Americans to believe that the slightest exposure to radioactivity will probably end all life in this arm of the galaxy.
